hello. i have used something a lot like this, but not exactly. if you have time, i strongly suggest trying out this live-cd for an amazing demonstration. i tried it by chance, not knowing what i was in for and i was blown away. it's a way of using tabs as you describe. i only used it for 10 minutes, it's not suitable for replacing your system, but it very well demonstrates a different way of using your system :) http://byzgl.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
